One for Sorrow

The last decoration fitted snuggly into the box. Christmas was gone for another year. What would the New Year bring? A new job? A new partner?

Last year was the worst that I could recall; redundancy with no pay out, a cheating partner, the floods in February and the discovery that the cheating partner hadn’t renewed the insurance, the list went on.

Ever an optimist I refused to give in, positive thoughts not negativity. A sign would be nice though, a glimmer of hope. Taking the battered box, I stared into the garden. Two magpies; that will do for me!
